What are Rites of Passage?

Women’s lives are permeated and structured by the Blood Mysteries: Initiations that come through the womb. Each of these initiations is a Rite of Passage into our next life season and how the rite happens, tells us what to expect from our next chapter.

Our own birth lays the foundation for all subsequent Rites of Passage. Our conception, our mother’s pregnancy, labour, birth and post-partum all create a nervous system imprint, which shows up in our creative processes and our subsequent initiations.

Menarche- our first bleed- and how this experience is celebrated (or not) tells us what is expected of us as a young woman or Maiden. Combined with our first sexual experience these rites initiate us into womanhood.

Creation (which can come as pregnancy, childbirth, educational pursuits, career development, and creative endeavours) build upon the foundation laid by our menarche and sexual experience, as well as our own birth imprint, and offer valuable lessons about what to anticipate during our Creatrix or Mother season.

When we begin to age, our fertility decreases and our bleed ceases during menopause, we are initiated into our wild, magic woman season and our experience here will be a culmination of all previous rites- who will we be when we are no longer young and fertile?

Lastly, we are confronted with the ultimate rite of passage: Death. How do we engage with letting go and dying, both in the literal and metaphorical sense?

Whether we are aware that the Rite is happening or not, it still becomes part of our imprint for the life season and if we do not address the learnings from our previous womb initiation, then we are prone to repeat the lessons and patterns of the past.

What happens during this Immersion?

This Rite of Passage Immersion aims to provide you with the reflective tools, resources and safe space to explore your unique experience with each rite as well as unravel some of the limiting messaging and beliefs attached to each life season.

Over the month we spend together, we will explore each rite in depth, re-membering women’s knowledge, deconstructing common myths, somatically processing and sharing our story and insights in circle and pairs.
